DermLite LLC, a privately-held company headquartered in Aliso Viejo, California, designs and markets the world's leading dermatoscopes under the DermLite® brand. Dermatoscopes are essential diagnostic tools for skin cancer screening, providing dermatologists and other medical professionals with magnified, illuminated views of skin lesions.

 Founded in 1999 by John Bottjer, Nizar Mullani, and Thorsten Trotzenberg, the company has pioneered many innovations in dermoscopy. DermLite launched the world's first polarized pocket dermatoscope at the American Academy of Dermatology's Annual Meeting in 2001, revolutionizing the industry.  

Over the years, DermLite has introduced a wide range of advanced products, including :  DermLite II, the first pocket dermatoscope to offer both contact and non-contact dermoscopy; DermLite Hybrid, the world's first polarized and non-polarized handheld dermatoscope, now considered the gold standard; DL5, the first dermatoscope with variable polarization and UV Fluorescence Dermoscopy (UVFD), providing comprehensive diagnostic capabilities; Lumio 2, a versatile white and UV exam light used for skin examination. In 2024, DermLite merged with FotoFinder Systems, expanding the company's capabilities in AI-driven skin imaging technology.

DermLite continues to lead in innovation with its in-house design, engineering, and assembly capabilities, offering a comprehensive suite of products that meet the evolving needs of the dermatology community.
